Data we process
- Account and sign-in data: if you create an account or sign in, we process your name, email address, user identifier, and session information. Sign-in tokens and basic profile data are stored on your device or in your browser to keep you signed in.
- Questionnaire data: if you choose to join in, we store your name, contact details, selected background, free-text answer, and whether you agreed that we may contact you.
- Messages: if you contact us, we process the contact details and message content needed to reply.
- Technical data: our servers process request data such as IP address and browser or device information to deliver and secure the service. Our self-hosted reverse proxy stores the IP address, timestamp, requested path, and technical headers in rotating access logs. Retention is size-based, and entries are typically overwritten within a few days. IP addresses are also used temporarily in server memory for abuse prevention; the questionnaire stores the submitted user-agent string.
- Website analytics: getreal.now uses our self-hosted Ackee instance to count visits. It does not use cookies or unique user tracking, and the data is anonymized.
Why we use it
We use this data to provide sign-in and app features, review questionnaire submissions, respond to messages, keep the service secure, and understand aggregate website use. Depending on the situation, our legal bases under the GDPR are performing a contract or taking steps at your request, your consent, our legitimate interest in operating a secure and useful service, and compliance with legal obligations. You can withdraw consent at any time for the future.
Services and sharing
We do not sell personal data and do not use it for advertising. We use the following services only where needed:
- Our self-hosted Hanko service verifies passkeys, recovery email addresses, and sessions.
- Apple (opens in a new tab): May sync passkeys if you use iCloud Keychain as your credential provider.
- Expo (opens in a new tab): Delivers app updates and may process technical request data.
- WhatsApp (opens in a new tab): Processes your contact details and message if you choose to contact us through WhatsApp.
Where personal data is shared, we require the same or equivalent protection described in this policy. Service providers acting for us may process data only for the stated purposes and under appropriate data-protection obligations. Apple, Expo, or WhatsApp may process data outside the European Economic Area under their own privacy terms and applicable safeguards.
Retention and deletion
We keep account data while your account is active and questionnaire or support data only for as long as needed for the purpose described above. We may retain information longer where the law requires it. You can delete your account in the app or on your profile page; for questionnaire submissions, support messages, or other requests, email support@getreal.now. We will also explain if a legal obligation prevents immediate deletion.
Your rights
Depending on applicable law, you may ask for access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, or data portability, and you may withdraw consent. Contact support@getreal.now. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.
Security
We use encryption in transit, access controls, and secure device storage for native-app sign-in tokens. No online service can guarantee absolute security, but we limit access and collect only what the service needs.
Children
Get Real is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided data, contact us so we can remove it.
Changes
We may update this policy when the app or our data practices change. The current version and its update date will remain available on this page.
